A Visit From Blake and Sonnet

Stephen and I arrived home from Tiffany's just in time for Memorial Day.  Cousin Shari is relocating to Florida so we spent the afternoon with the family at Jim’s house for a ‘Farewell Shari’ dinner.  Blake and family came down from Fresno and a good time was had by all.   All, except the cat.  Joshua made friends and treated the cat gently.  Jacob on the other hand took out after her with a bat.  After Jenell disarmed him and he was jailed on the bench beside me, I asked him why he was trying to hit the cat and he said he was just trying to hit her tail.  Go figure – I guess in his mind tails were acceptable targets.  He quickly learned different.
Sonnet came into town a few days later and we spent wonderful days all together.  Ladder ball, the swing and the pond were favorites.  Of course what would a trip to Grandma Sunshine’s house be without someone falling in the pond?   But who could it be...….let’s see…..you guessed it, Jacob.   What an adventurous little guy.
We all escaped to the beach for a couple days visiting our favorite haunt, Avila Barn.  What a great place to let kids feed the animals and just plain run.  At the beach sandcastles and kites added to the day.  The ride home got a little exciting when we had to make an unexpected trip to the emergency room.  Sara’s nut allergy was triggered by a stray nut that made its way into her strawberry parfait.  At least that is the nearest we could figure.  We bought the parfait at a street fair booth that also sold brownies with nuts.  An hour later, after being pumped up with Benadryl and something else they gave her in an IV, she was breathing easier and ready to head for home.
Mostly I loved just hanging out at the house and visiting.  Sara felt pretty good most of the time interspersed with occasional nauseating effects of pregnancy.  Sonnet was missing Christian who at present is in Mississippi for field training (Air Force); however Ruth was a delightful distraction as always.  Blake interested us with tails of Afghanistan and the Army in general.  And the boys, well the boys were active, adorable and getting so big I cannot believe it.  Jacob is a go getter but generally loving (except for his violent tendencies towards cat tails).  Joshua is a pleasant little guy and of late has begun talking up a storm, doing his best to make himself understood.
They have all returned home now.  That will have to be my children and grandchildren fix until the next time.  I love them all.
