Time Warp

Some days have more than 24 hours in them - I'm sure of it. When life happens and emotions are heightened, time has a way of warping. Perhaps it only seems that way because you intensely feel every minute. For many reasons this week has been so for me. Now the week has ended and I feel my mind slowing. It is getting late. I guess the best thing to do is go to bed and let a new day come. I welcome a new day.

A Visit with Kathy

We are back from Alaska. Mom & I had a wonderful visit with Kathy. We talked, laughed, played cards and caught up on our lives. I was interested to hear she is involved in a string ensemble. A cellist, she has also learned the violin, string bass and viola. They have people from the outside come in and work with the orchestra and twice a year the inmates perform concerts that are open to the community. As you can see, she was able to play her violin for us.

Another musical interest is the choir. She sings alto in a small group. Kathy also works Monday –Friday sewing. Sometimes she sews government uniforms or other government projects. Lately she is sewing parkas for a private vendor in the area. I guess the prison negotiates the contracts. Most evenings she has either an orchestra or choir practice and once a week she has a scripture study group. All these activities have enriched her life. Self admitting, she is moving forward and has seen some edifying changes of heart and mind.

On the road, yet again

Tomorrow my Mom & I leave for Alaska to visit my sister. I am sure it will be a wonderful trip; it is just that I am so weary of leaving. I simply want to be still and quiet with Stephen in my own home. Isn't it funny that however enjoyable or exciting, outings cannot compete with the tranquility of home? I guess it does take one to appreciate the other. I agree with Tifffany when she said, "We have had a lot of fun and have enjoyed a lot of different company, but it is so nice to not have to go anywhere for a while". In the meantime – one more trip then I am home for the summer, or what's left of it.

I'm Going Public

Hello Cyberspace……If you are reading this I must have emailed you to announce my blog address. I love visiting friends and family blogs and thought it would be a good keep-in-touch tool. I had fun setting up the slide shows and history ….......but …….. well….....now what do I do?

All of the sudden I can’t remember anything of interest. Note to self - I guess you should wait until you have something to say before you begin a post………………..OK, this is what I will say, this is nothing like making a book. I like to make books. They are mostly just photo journals and family story books but I like them. If you want to see my books you can check them out at: http://community.shutterfly.com/gallery/search/start.sfly?term=dunnsmere&pageNumber=1&itemsPerPage=20&fid=54e498781e67f2d32a944dfefaeb216b

So, there you go - I guess I did it. My first official post to the nameless masses. All I can say is enjoy my life – I certainly do!

Under Construction

I have been working on the blog but have much to learn. The slide shows are not suppose to be cut off so I have some adjusting to do. Hopefully Jocelyn Delgado can come to my rescue.
