Stephen and I thought we would see if my old arthritic knees could carry me and my backpack up a mountain. We decided Weaver Lake would be a good destination. The trail to Weaver is not very long, only a couple miles each way from the trailhead. We enjoyed the drive up from the valley floor watching the trees first appear then change from scrub oak to oak and maple then eventually pine. Before we even crossed the gate into Sequoia, we rolled down the windows and took in the mountain air. Cool and refreshing and pungent with pine. I wore both knee braces and am happy to report they did just fine. The fishing is usually quite good but that day the little fellows were not interested in what we were serving up. But you know what they say, a bad day fishing beats a good day doing something else. It was a nice get-a-way.
